ADVOCACY

Influencing policy in the context of the global excipients sector is a permanent focus area for the Excipients Business Forum

The Excipients Business Forum understands that having our voice heard is an important priority. As the foremost thinktank and policy forum for the excipients sector, we work to maintain and raise the profile of pharmaceutical excipients and help address issues and concerns that emerge through our research, advocacy and lobbying activities.

ADVOCACY

Advocacy at the Excipients Business Forum represents all the work we do to influence the policies and actions of governments, international institutions and the private sector, in order to achieve positive changes in the excipients sector. Our advocacy and campaigns build on the insights generated by our own and/or third party research programmes from around the world. Advocacy encompasses research and policy analysis, lobbying, communications and public campaigning. In different situations, our advocacy can be focused on securing formal policy changes; driving implementation; or creating an enabling environment for change.

LOBBYING

Excipients Business Forum lobbying initiatives have the overarching intention of informing and influencing public policy and law, to advance the interests and concerns of the excipients industry. We believe that active and early influence is crucial to achieving results and to avoid possible ´misfits´ between regulatory initiatives and the pharmaceutical industry´s own policies or goals. Lobbying not only requires substantial preparations but also excellent communication and lobbying skills.

How we work

The Excipients Business Forum works with governments and policymakers through our secretariat, regional chapters, policy conference and our extensive reach into the excipients supply chain. We engage with a variety of stakeholders, nationally and internationally, including politicians, key healthcare organisations, charities and trade bodies, to ensure that they understand the role of pharmaceutical excipients within the healthcare value chain.

We are committed to protecting our stakeholder’ interests by:

  • Maintaining a constant dialogue with key decision makers

  • Working as a sector by liaising with stakeholder organisations

  • Providing briefings for debates and laying parliamentary questions

  • Making members’ voices heard in relevant Government consultations and inquiries
